#1- First Steps


Our First Steps

I believe every game should start with a prototype. I've grabbed some assets from the Unity Asset Store to build out my initial scene, along with my player character and our cool canine companion. I also got some animations for the player from Mixamo.

I'm not sure if these map and environment assets will be the final ones, so I'm not focusing on them just yet. But at the end of this devlog, I'll be sure to post the links and give them the credit they deserve.

That said, I'm confident that our player and his awesome partner will stick with us throughout this entire process.

What's Done So Far

So far, I've prototyped the map:

 and built the core player mechanics. I created a script to handle player movement and sprinting, which I've linked to the corresponding animations. I also set up a camera script that follows the player with a bit of a smooth delay.


For now, here's the result of our "first steps," literally: a moveable player and a  smooth follow camera.

Next Up: giving orders to our buddy
